Christiana Care is seeking a full time Wound/Ostomy/Continence Nurse (WOCN). This position will require the successful candidate to work both within Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals.
The primary function of the WOCN is to serve as the clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative care of patients with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems. The successful candidate will work Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm, but may need to flex as needed; currently no weekends and holidays.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Serves as a consultant in the management of patients with wounds, fistulas, ostomies and/or incontinence.
Facilitates the learning process for patients and families with wounds ostomies and/or incontinence by influencing changes in behavior, knowledge, attitudes and/or acquisition of psychomotor skills.
Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide care appropriate to infant, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required, MSN preferred.
3 to 5 years of acute care nursing experience.
Leadership experience preferred.
Current RN licensure in the state of Delaware or compact state.
Current CPR certification
WOCN certification preferred, or enrollment and completion of certification within two years.
