Fairview Health Services is looking for a Patient Care Supervisor at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN to lead our Critical Care Flex Team. The Critical Care Flex Team consists of RNs who go to our Cardiovascular ICU, Surgical ICU and Medical ICU.

About This Team:

• RNs who will work underneath the guidance of the Patient Care Supevisor will work on our CVICU, SICU and MICU.
• This patient population consists of those who need coronary artery bypass, valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair, neurosurgery, complex surgical procedures, and heart/lung and liver transplant. We care for patients with manydifferent diagnoses including: multi system organ failure, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, influenza, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, pre/post bone marrow transplant, pre organtransplant (kidney/liver/lung), overdoses, and respiratory/cardiac arrest.
• The nurse patient ratio is a mix of 1:1 and 1:2 on all shifts.

About This Position:

• This position works 80 hours , every two weeks on the day shift.

The PCS aids in promoting the practice of professional nursing as well as the development and utilization of resources. The PCS works cooperatively with the Nurse Manager, administration, physicians, staff and customers of the M Health Fairview system to provide services and consistently meet and exceed expectations of the people we serve. The PCS participates in aspects of budgeting, performance management and human resources matters, including recruitment and the administration of disciplinary measures. The PCS assists in implementing and supporting safety protocols and regulations ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements and meets all Joint Commission requirements. The PCS will model behaviors consistent with M Health Fairviews mission, vision and philosophy and effectively maintain the hospitals Standards of Care and Practice.

• Assists in managing the day-to-day and shift-to-shift operations
• Supervision of personnel in the department and projects as delegated.
• Hiring, discipline and performance evaluations
• Preference card assessment, review, and adjustment in conjunction with scheduling and team leads
• Acts as a role model
• Collaborates with Nursing and Provider leadership to implement and evaluate standards of practice.
• Supports our patient experience initiatives
• Assist with charge nurse development
• Demonstrates skills/abilities in provision of patient care and directs patient care
• Compass review and follow up with unit staff and other departments

Required:

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing. If Bachelors is not in nursing, then must have a Masters degree in nursing
• Three years nursing experience, at least one of which is in a formal or informal ( charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role.
• Minnesota RN license
• BLS certification

Preferred Education:

• Master's degree
