Perform routine and complex procedures to obta indata for use in thediagnosis of clinical disorders of the nervous syst emin at least one ofthe following modalities of Neurodiagnostics: Electr oencephalography(EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring (CLTM ).
Level 1- Perform one of the followi ng END study: EEG or Evoked Potentials.- Explains testing procedure to patient and family using age appropriateguidelines.- Accurately takes an ddocuments a pertinent history from the patient orchart.- Sets-up patien t for appropriate study to include: patient, paperwork,room and equipme nt.- Runs study with appropriate documentation on study, observation oft hepatient, troubleshooting equipment and physiological artifacts,disting uishing normal from abnormal and utilizing appropriate resourcesto perfo rm study.- Recognizes and takes appropriate action to respond to evolvin g patientcare needs.- Demonstrates proper cleaning procedures for the pa tient, room andequipment after each study.- Utilizes down time for train ing, cleaning equipment and readingeducational materials.- Demonstratesa bility to apply knowledge to different testingsituations to include regu lar participation in the on-call schedule,working independently on 2nd, 3rd and weekend shifts and EEG OR.- Performs needed maintenance on equip ment to include communication ofproblem to co-workers, appropriate vendo r or the supervisor.Level 2- Perform all duties of the Level 1.- Perform two of the following END studies: EEG, Evoked Potentials,Epilepsy Moni toring, and float resource tothe sleep lab.- Maintains registry in one of the following areas: EEG or EvokedPotentials.- Has computer skills to correct duplicate file names, incorrect historynumbers, starting pati ents under the wrong names, networking issues,lost files, appending pati ent studies, etc.- Develops Clinical Standards and protocols.Level 3-Per form all duties of the Level 1 and 2.- Perform three of the followingEND studies: EEG, Evoked Potentials,Epilepsy Monitoring, Epilepsy OR,and f loat resource to the sleep lab.- Maintains registry in one of the follow ing areas: EEG, EvokedPotentials, or Epilepsy Monitoring.- Troubleshoot s equipment and lab issues independently, considered anequipment super u ser.- Generate requisitions for patient studies.- Processes daily charge s.- Perform minimum number of hours designated a year as charge tech.
Level 1Level 1 performs onemodali ty of Neurodiagnostics, 10 hours of CE,selects 2 choices from a list of options for professional growth (e.g.,member of national organization, c ommittee work).Level 2Level 2 performs two modalities of Neurodiagnostic s, 12 hours of CE,selects 3 choices from a list of options for professio nal growth andmaintains clinical ladder requirements.Level 3Level3 perfo rms three modalities of Neurodiagnostics, 16 hours of CE,selects5 choice s from a list of options for professional growth andmaintains clinical l adder requirements.
Level 1 required. required. Associate's degree in a health related field or a Bachelor's degree Level 2 Associate's degree in a health related field or a Bachelor's degree Level 3 Associate's degree in a health related field or a Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a health related field.
Level 1 6 months of direct patient care experience preferred OR 2 years of non- patient care healthcare experience. Level 2 2 years experience in Neurodiagnostic Technology required. Level 3 5 years experience in Neurodiagnostic Technology with a minimum of one year in Neurodiagnostic Technology at Duke required. A bachelor's degree can substitute for two years of experience.
