This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Registered Nurse in the GU Clinic is an expert in Urology nursing. This RN is accountable to the Nurse Manager of the GU Clinic. The RN leads other team members in the care of the patient during GU Clinic visits as well as urology procedures. He/She provides pre and post procedure education, oversees the safety of the patient, documents procedural assessment information, and ensures correct labeling of specimens and that the requirement for reusable medical equipment (RME) are consistently employed. The RN works closely with the cancer care coordinator to ensure timely treatment and follow up of our patients. The Urology RN is responsible for overseeing the planning, organizing, facilitating and monitoring the scheduling activities and functions of the Urology Clinic. He/She works closely with the Urology staff to improve outcomes for procedures performed in the Urology Clinic. The RN is also responsible for collaboration with administrative and clinical staff in actively managing and planning for actual and potential needs of patient population groups. The primary setting for this role is the GU Clinic, however treatments may be performed in the OR or ICU procedural areas as needed.
